Doctoral studies at the Department of Biology of the University of Patras aim at the production of high quality and modern scientific research, as well as the training of scientists capable of contributing to the progress and development of science and research. The graduates of the PhD programmes are intended to staff the research, business and educational potential of the country and abroad. At the same time, the PhD programme is a source of academic prestige and international academic distinction for the Department of Biology, as well as for the University of Patras in general, and contributes to the qualitative and quantitative upgrading of research output in cutting-edge areas of Biology.
The minimum formal qualifications of candidates for doctoral programmes are as follows:
(a) The minimum qualifications required for doctoral studies are: a Bachelor’s degree from a Higher Education Institution (University or Technical University) in the national territory or from a recognised equivalent institution in a foreign country.
(b) Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (M.Sc.) from a Higher Education Institution of the national territory or from a foreign institution recognized by the Hellenic N.A.R.I.C (Hellenic National Recognition and Information Center) as equivalent, or possession of a single and complete postgraduate degree, according to article 46 of Law 4485/2017.
The period of time for obtaining the Doctoral Degree cannot be less than three (3) full calendar years from the date of appointment of the Tripartite Advisory Committee.
